An aspiring master would have to pass through the career chain from apprentice to journeyman before he could be elected to become a master craftsman. Did I choose wood or did wood choose me – with a name like EMBER its hard to know for sure, although my parents insist that my name is taken from the time of my birth, December, and has nothing to do with glowing log fires. Either way I have had a life long interest in, and love of wood in all its forms. By the time I was
3 I had my own small saw and hammer and was dedicated apprentice to my dad, “Martin the Mend”, learning practical skills which were to become the foundation of my trade. Always adventurous I moved from climbing trees to being inspired by them.
